eVU™ is a studio approved portable Audio/Video player. Encrypted content is securely loaded and stored on internal storage media utilizing e.Digital’s proprietary download application and encryption technology. The unit has a high resolution LCD for brilliant video playback.

This particular model has a 8” Active Matrix LCD with a maximum screen resolution up to 800x480, supporting 262,144 colors. During video playback, eVU can support an aspect ratio of 16:9 (screen can adjust to display 4:3 content properly). Two headphone jacks come standard, supporting either single or dual-pin stereo sound. Noise-cancelling headphone features are also available.

eVU also offers an optional touchscreen interface. Pay-per-use services can be enabled with the optional built-in credit card reader.

eVU has the distinction of being the first and only portable IFE device that has a proven 20+ hours of video playback on a single battery charge. Using “smart” rechargeable high capacity lithium ion batteries, users can cross the Atlantic or the Pacific watching their favorite programs without interruption.

Several options exist to recharge eVU's batteries using custom-made docking stations, stand-alone battery chargers, or using a single DC wall outlet. The player can also be powered via 15VDC or 110VAC seat power

Content is stored on internal storage media, with capacity ranging from 40GB to 160GB. Content downloads are facilitated through a proprietary Ethernet connection, USB, or an optional wireless connection.
